How to get to Malmö

The Malmö city can be reached by various means of transport. The most convenient form of transport is a plane. Malmö is served by two airports: the airport of Malmö and “Kastrup” airport of Denmark's capital Copenhagen. You can get to Malmo also by train by road or by sea.

By plane to Malmö

Malmö Airport

Malmo airport is located at distance about 30 kilometers from the city (about 25 kilometers from the Lund town). This is the fifth in the number of served passengers’ airport in Sweden. From Malmö Airport is easy to get to Copenhagen (distance is approximately 55 kilometers) and to the Copenhagen airport “Kastrup”. The airport handled nearly 2 million passengers in 2011.

To get from the airport to the Malmo city is possible by buses of companies Flygbussarna. Buses run regularly to the cities Malmö and Lund. The journey takes about 40 minutes. The bus stop is located in front of the airport terminal. Buses depart to the airport from Malmö Central railway station.

By car. If you are traveling to the airport from the cities Malmö and Copenhagen, follow the E65 motorway and follow the signs to the airport. If you are coming from the cities Lund and Trelleborg, follow the road №108.

From the airport of Copenhagen

Malmö is easily accessible from the airport of Copenhagen “Kastrup Airport”. Copenhagen Airport “Kastrup” is the largest airport in Denmark. The airport handled 22.7 million passengers in 2011. The airport is located at distance 8 kilometers to the southeast of Copenhagen city center and 24 kilometers from the city of Malmö. Airport can be reached by different modes of transport.

The railway station is located under the airport terminal №3. The airport is connected by rail with many cities in Denmark and Europe. From airport trains go to Copenhagen, Malmö, Gothenburg, Kalmar, Karlskrona, Esbjerg, Århus, Ålborg, Sønderborg, Flensburg, Ystad. Train tickets can be purchased at the office of DSB in the terminal 3. Trains in Malmö, Ystad and Göteborg depart from platform №1.
The airport is connected by metro line with center of Copenhagen.

By bus

The “Gråhundbus” company buses serve passengers on road along the Oresund Bridge. Bus №866 follows the route Copenhagen – Ystad - Rønne. Bus №999 follows the route Copenhagen – Malmo - Lund.

Buses №999 run regularly between the cities Malmö and Copenhagen. The bus has several stops in different places. In Copenhagen, the bus stops at the airport and the Town Hall Square.
There are also other bus routes.

By rail

A convenient way to get to Malmö is railroad. Trains depart to Malmo from Stockholm, Denmark and Germany. Train from Copenhagen Central Station go to Malmö depart every 20 minutes (less frequently at night), the journey takes about 35 minutes. Along the way, the train stops at the stations Hyllie and Triangeln. The railway station is also in the Copenhagen airport.

By car

Malmö can be reached by car from the capital of Sweden, Stockholm. A distance is over 600 kilometers. If you are traveling by car from Denmark, then you should go on the motorway E20 through the Oresund Bridge to Malmo. To drive through the Oresund Bridge need to pay fee. The fare is made on the Swedish side of the bridge.

By sea

The company Finnlines operates regular ferry service between Travemünde (Germany) and Malmö (Sweden).
You can come to Malmo also on your own yacht or boat. “Limhamn” yacht harbor located at a distance about 6 kilometers to south-west of the center of Malmo.
